Life Lately #2
Tuesday, 9 May 2017
Laura, where the hell have you been?
It's been almost a month since I last published a post. But with good reason. This Easter while everyone was enjoying their chocolate eggs, myself, Kris and my parents were hauling around furniture. As mentioned in my last post, we moved to a new town, went on holiday to Iceland, then started new jobs. Blogging took a bit of a back seat, but hopefully now we're settled in and happy I can get back on it!
Adventures of an Agoraphobic: Haworth
Friday, 14 April 2017
The big news in my life at the moment is that I'm moving to a new town. Imminently. This weekend, in fact. Kris and I have been together for three and a half years and have been trying hard to find jobs near to each other so that we can get a place together. Things have finally come together, and so we're having the lovely stress of moving to a completely new town. It's exciting, but not exactly easy when it's a holiday weekend! And we've not got much time because we're going away to Iceland next week. Lots to do!
Kris moved up to the North in the summer of 2015, and lived in Mytholmroyd, near Hebden Bridge. It's a lovely place (despite the flooding) but not somewhere where we could settle. That still, I'm really going to miss it.
As English graduates, we always talked about visiting the Brontë Parsonage in Haworth. Ever since Kris moved up we planned to go, but never seemed to find the right time. With neither of us driving things can get a little bit tricky once you live in a more rural area. But we decided that we needed to go before we moved, so off we went!
Adventures of an Agoraphobic: London (including the Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesden, the Royal Albert Hall and a Lush Haul)
Wednesday, 9 November 2016
With jet-setting across the globe out of the question due to budget constraints, Kris and I opted for a staycation (although it was still pretty costly). We've both been to London a load of times, but last weekend was purely a nerd-fest. Wizards and dinosaurs were on the agenda!
Adventures of an Agoraphobic: Hay-on-Wye
Wednesday, 3 August 2016
It's been a while since I've done a travel post! This is a long one, so I apologise for the ramble!
Am reusing this old photo, because I realised I hadn't taken any outdoor shots! Fail.
Adventures of an Agoraphobic: York
Sunday, 3 April 2016
Kris and I decided to do something a little bit different last week, considering that we had a few days off for Easter. 2 and a half years together and we've never been on holiday together! So we had a mini one, staying for a night in York.
Adventures of an Agoraphobic: Liverpool (+ a mini haul)
Sunday, 6 March 2016
I broke the routine; I actually went somewhere different this weekend!
My work was attending an event at Liverpool John Moores on Saturday, so I volunteered to go. I dragged Kris along for the day out and after the event finished, we went and explored. I don't go to Liverpool very often, so it was nice to get out and go somewhere new.
Vintage Finds: Lucy & the Caterpillar Vintage Boutique
Monday, 12 October 2015
I know I go on about it a lot, but back in August I traveled to Iceland. I longed for an Icelandic jumper, but they were way too expensive for me.
Fast forward to October, and I'm mooching around Hebden Bridge with my boyfriend. I'd spotted the sign for a 'vintage boutique' before, but this time I finally decided to follow it and go inside.
I'm so glad I did. A vintage Handknitting Association of Iceland jumper (a shop that I actually went into whilst I was in Reykjavik) for £25! I just couldn't leave it behind; I had to have it in my life. And luckily, it fit!
It's a little bit short on the arms for me, which I'm actually quite happy about because I'm always rolling my sleeves up anyway. It's handknitted from Icelandic 'lopi' yarn, meaning it is lovely and warm. My Christmas jumper for 2015?
As for the shop - Lucy & the Caterpillar Vintage Boutique is amazing. It's a Aladdin's cave of vintage finds, and at affordable prices. It's inside an old mill building (upstairs from the Innovation cafe and gift shop); she also has her own clothing range, I am Lucille, which you can find on Etsy. I hope my boyfriend doesn't mind, because I'll be insisting that we go there every time I visit him from now on!
