Build Your Own Birchbox!

Calling all Manchester bloggers! The Build Your Own Birchbox has come to Selfridges Exchange Square!

I must admit, I've never had a beauty subscription box before. I think part of me felt uneasy about paying for a mystery box of products. But I love the idea of a build your own box; it's like pick and mix for grown ups!

I came across the stand by accident. I was actually using Selfridges as a shortcut to escape the rain! Whilst on the escalator I looked down into the beauty hall and spotted the Birchbox stand. The next day I came back whilst on my lunch break; I just knew I had to try it!

So I ended up going for:

Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel - I knew I had to try this because I've always bought Korres products as gifts for people, but never for myself. It has a lovely fruity smell; to me it's mostly grapes. A wine shower gel!

LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in Perfect Cents - I originally picked a lip product, then went back and swapped it for this. The colour pay off is amazing, almost like a foil effect. And it seems really long wearing: I had to get a makeup wipe from the MAC counter because the swatch would just not budge off my hand!

This Works deep sleep pillow spray - I've seen this around but always thought it was too expensive to purchase a full-sized bottle. I'm intrigued to see whether it helps at all. The smell isn't really my cup of tea but if it works, it works (and if it doesn't then they should change the name). I actually picked it up with my Stepdad in mind, who struggles a lot with sleep. If I like it, I shall definitely be recommending it

POP Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait - I thought this was just too cute to pass by, and I am lacking gold/bronze eyeshadows. The warm peachy colours will be perfect for spring. I have no idea whether the colours will clash with my hair, but we'll have to see. The pigmentation is really good and the size makes it perfect for travelling

Parlor by Jeff Chastain Moisturising Sea Salt Spray - I've never owned a sea salt spray before, so thought I'd give it a go. I just felt like it'd be boring if I picked a shampoo! I think I'll give this a try next time I curl my hair,  in order to give it a bit of texture.

Huygens Le Commage Visage Exfoliating Cream - I have to admit, the smell of this is what drew me in. It smells like the Thornton's Sicilian Lemon Mouse chocolates (weird analogy, I know). Winter is harsh on my skin, so I'm hoping this scrub will help clear up my pores!

So this whole box cost £15, and included an offer where you can receive your first subscription box for just £5 (plus p+p). Not sure if I'll be taking them up on the offer, but this was definitely a lot of fun!

The Build Your Own Birchbox pop-up counters are in Manchester at the following stores and dates:

  • 4th - 21st February - Selfridges Exchange Square
  • 20th March - 9th April - Selfridges Trafford Centre
