Trying Charlotte Tilbury for the first time

I've always wanted to try Charlotte Tilbury, but could never justify the price to my bank balance. Everything is just so beautiful! So imagine my glee when I discovered that I'd won Corrie's blogerversary giveaway!

I spent a while umming and ahhing over what to buy, even popping into the Covent Garden store to take a look. In the end I picked three matte lipsticks. They're the product that I've always coveted, so why not get three? That's not overkill, right?

I ended up choosing Secret Salma (which I'd had my eye on for a while), Love Liberty (which I'd swatched in store and loved) and English Beauty (a risky choice as I'd never seen it in person, but I couldn't resist a limited edition product). I love that they're all very different, spanning from day to night.

I always gravitate towards matte formulas because they feel like they last longer than others. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I feel like other formulas barely last ten minutes! The formula of these is not at all drying, so they're soft without looking shiny.

I was slightly worried about English Beauty because of how brown it looked in the bullet. But it swatched a more peachy colour, which I love. It's a perfect daytime matte lip. If you're looking for a dupe for this I recommend Maybelline's Color Sensational Matte Lipstick in Smoky Rose (more details on that here) as it has a similar feel.

Secret Salma is a lot pinker, and I find it similar to MAC Mehr (although a little pinker). My lips are quite dark in colour considering my skin tone, so I tend to lean towards shades like this over more "traditional" nude lipsticks. I think this is the one that I will use the most.

I wasn't planning on buying Love Liberty until I swatched it in store. I was more interested in some of the nude shades, but got to Love Liberty and my face just turned to the heart-eyed emoji. I couldn't leave it behind, it was just too good. It's on the way to a dark berry, without being too adventurous. Whilst I used to buy a huge range of lipsticks of all different shades, these days I'm a bit more boring. This is different to other lipsticks in my rotation without being too "out there". I can't wait to use it.

Have you tried Charlotte Tilbury's lipsticks? Which shades are your favourites? I'd love to hear your recommendations for products to try!
